Older Kids Ministry: Ages 6–12
As children grow, their ability to engage with deeper concepts and build meaningful relationships flourishes. The years from ages 6 to 12 are a critical time for faith development, character building, and fostering a personal relationship with God. Our ministry for older kids is dedicated to equipping children with the tools they need to understand God’s Word, apply it to their lives, and develop a vibrant faith that will carry them into their teen years and beyond.
Purpose and Vision
Our purpose is to create an environment where children can grow in their relationship with Christ, learn to serve others, and build a solid foundation of faith.
Our vision is to:
1. Root Kids in God’s Word: Teach them biblical truths in ways that are practical and engaging.
2. Equip Them to Live Their Faith: Help kids apply what they learn to everyday situations.
3. Foster Meaningful Relationships: Build connections with peers and mentors who will encourage them in their faith journey.
Age-Specific Ministry Breakdown

• What We Do:
• Introduce key Bible stories and characters with an emphasis on God’s love and faithfulness.

• Hands-on activities like crafts and games to reinforce lessons.
• Group discussions about how to show kindness, make good choices, and trust God in daily life.
2. Upper Elementary (Ages 9–12)
• Objective: Build a deeper understanding of faith and equip children to make wise decisions and serve others.
• What We Do:
• Teach foundational doctrines and help children connect Old and New Testament truths.
• Encourage them to ask questions and explore what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus.
• Create service opportunities where they can practice living out their faith (e.g., helping with younger children, participating in food drives, or community outreach).
• Focus on developing critical thinking skills through Bible studies and open discussions about real-life challenges.
Core Components of the Ministry
1. Engaging Bible Lessons
Our curriculum is designed to help kids dive deeper into God’s Word. Lessons are interactive, involving storytelling, role-playing, and multimedia tools to make Scripture come alive.
2. Active Worship
Worship services for older kids are energetic and purposeful, including:
• Upbeat praise songs with motions.
• Opportunities for kids to lead worship (e.g., singing, playing instruments, or running tech equipment).
• Devotionals that teach the heart behind worship.
3. Life Application
• Small group discussions focus on applying biblical truths to everyday situations like friendships, school challenges, and family life.
• Weekly challenges encourage kids to practice what they’ve learned at home and in their communities.
4. Service and Leadership Opportunities
• Kids are encouraged to take ownership of their faith by serving others, such as volunteering in church or participating in local outreach projects.
• Leadership development programs help older kids discover and use their God-given gifts.
5. Safe and Nurturing Environment
• All leaders are background-checked and trained to work with children.
• Classrooms and spaces are designed to be welcoming, organized, and kid-friendly.
Special Programs and Events

Why This Ministry Matters
The ages of 6 to 12 are a season of curiosity, exploration, and decision-making. Kids are forming their identities and beginning to ask important questions about who God is and how He works in their lives. By investing in their spiritual growth during these formative years, we:
• Lay the groundwork for a personal relationship with Christ.
• Equip them to navigate life’s challenges with biblical wisdom.
• Help them build strong, Christ-centered friendships.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” - 1 Timothy 4:12
Partnering with Families
We believe that spiritual growth happens best when church and home work together. That’s why we:
• Provide parents with updates on what their children are learning each week.
• Offer tools and activities to encourage faith conversations at home.
• Host family events to strengthen the bond between parents and kids in a Christ-centered context.
Our older kids ministry is a vibrant, Christ-centered program designed to nurture faith, build character, and prepare children to shine as lights in the world. Together, we can help this generation discover the joy of following Jesus and living out His love in their lives.
We’re excited to partner with your family on this journey of spiritual growth and discovery!
